Tanjung Puting National Park is located in the south of the province of Central Kalimantan. The nearest main town and airport is Pangkalan Bun. The park is famous for its orangutan conservation and can only be reached by boat.

The best way to visit the park is to travel 3 or 4 days on a so called Klotok, named after the noise it makes. A Klotok is a two-storeyed wooden river boat built to navigate through shallow waters and narrow rivers. They have a small kitchen and dining place, a lounge area, toilet and some have air-conditioned cabins. On other boats you can sleep under a mosquito net on the upper deck.
